What is CRS as per BIS?

CRS i.e. Compulsory Registration Scheme is a scheme and policy of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This scheme was introduced in 2012 by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and BIS.

The scheme originally covered 15 products in 2012 but at present it covers more than 50 products.
According to this scheme all the people who are manufacturing, storing, selling, importing or distributing the goods listed under this scheme are required to apply for the BIS certification. Manufactures need to get their product tested from BIS recognised labs for applying for the certification. Once BIS registers the manufacturers, he is allowed to use the standard mark for their products in conformation with the Indian Standards.

Eligibility for Application/ Basis of Registration

  •       Any third party manufactures, either located in India or Foreign location.
  •       Separate registration number is provided for separate products.
  •       Each brand gets separate registration, even if it is manufactured at the same location.

Validity

The Standard Mark for product and packaging, under CRS is valid for two years from the date of grant of Certificate. It may be renewed after the expiry of registration, if there is no change in the product and its specifications.

List of Products under CRS

  1. Amplifiers with input power 2000W and above

BIS online certification services consultant in India

The entire framework for BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme for quality testing in India has a different rule and regulation set for it by the government of India. Just like every sector has a different institution or body that governs its management organisation and administration, quality testing for products also has a different rule base set by the regulations and administrative bodies that help the manufacturers in assisting with the procedures that they are supposed to comply to maintain the rules and regulations that are meant to be.

• There are many government departments and administrative bodies that look after the management and control their functions so that proper conduct can be made sure without compromising with the ethics and rules and regulations.

• To make sure that the rules and regulations are being complied in a proper way these administrative bodies and institutions are granted reasonable amount of powers, responsibilities and accountability is bestowed on their shoulders so that proper conduct can be carried out.

To regulate the framework, one such institution is Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) that is responsible to check out the quality standards their regulation work, and see if the products that are being circulated in the economy by the producers and companies are up to the mark in terms of quality and wellness.

Every manufacturer or company has to go through the tests that are mandatory to be applied. Once the tests are done, quality certification are provided to the manufacturer and product. To make the things easier, there are many certification consultants in India that provides the service of getting their products certified by Bureau of Indian standards (BIS).

The product range may vary from a variety of products that can range from electronics gadgets and other products also.

These regional and branch offices are then required to keep an eye on the activities and regulatory work of the companies and manufacturers along with the range of products that the standards cover.

Depending upon the quality of services and the area of services covered by them, there are a number of top BIS certification consultants in India that provide the best services to the clients with assured quality results. All the manufacturing concern or corporate company that is engaged in the processing related to import and sale of IT products like LED television mobile phones and LED lights in the entire markets of the country is required to have BIS certification for Electronic Products for the sake of clearance. Failing to comply with this procedure will definitely lead to re export of all the important goods.

BIS product certification scheme

During the initial period, the government of India came forward with the electronics and information technology goods order in 2012 which made it compulsory for the manufacturers to have BIS certification registration with them for 15 categories of electronic products.

This list included all the IT and electronic items such as laptop, notebook and television sets among the others as well.

With the introduction of new policies the order has now been extended to each and every imported electronic and it product that is being circulated in the market for selling purpose.

This certificate is a proof given to a product that is notified by telecommunication and engineering center according to the applicant's specifications prevailing for the time being keeping in mind the target category of product.

The whole process revolves around the main framework that is issued by telecommunication engineering sector under the prevailing rules and regulations.
As far as overseas manufacturers are concerned, it is required for them to keep a local representative in India on their behalf to represent them locally and be responsible for all the further procedures that are required to bring the product into the market.

One of the big reasons why this is needed in our system is that low cost and low quality electronic products are being supplied in the economy since a long time. This exact thing has created an adverse effect on the quality conscious manufacturers for a long term. To make it a big thing, various structures of market surveillance have been designed to make sure that compliance is being adhered to.

Apart from this, there are also many regional and State wise BIS certification consultants of a certification consulting services for Bureau of Indian standards to various kinds of companies and manufacturers that become their client.

BIS CERTIFICATION SERVICES FOR STEEL PLATES

While buying electrical appliances, gold jewelry or any other valuable items for ourselves we always prefer the best of the quality. We all know the fact to check for the purity and quality check signs and marks on the label. It is a surprising fact that hardly anyone knows who evaluate those products for us and puts those marks there; we are going to find out the same in this article.

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (BIS)

During the initial period of the independence of India, the major problem facing the country was to build up a stable industrial infrastructure. It was then that the need for standardization of common consumer products was recognized by the countries engineers and thus they came up with the Indian Standards Institution (ISI). Initially, the role of the institution was to standardize consumer products and grant license to the manufacturers producing and labeling goods complying with the set standards.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was established on 01st April 1987 under the BIS Act, 2016. BIS has a wider range of responsibilities, powers, and scope compared to the former ISI. The government felt the need to establish an environment of consciousness and quality concern among the consumers in the economy by implementing these national standards. The BIS is the National
Standard Body of India.

ROLE OF BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (BIS)

The primary function of BIS is to set national standards for consumer products and to check on their compliance with the manufacturers. BIS takes care of the activities like standardization of the products manufactured, marking of the goods, quality certifications, and other incidental matters.
The BIS provides traceability as well as tangibility benefits to the Indian economy. It ensures the reliability of the consumers and gaining more confidence from them by providing quality products with minimized health hazards and promoting import substitutes and exports. The BIS controls the proliferation of varieties of goods through its methods of standardization, certification, and testing.
The government made it mandatory for the products and companies to be BIS-certified. The companies need to put a “BIS-certified” label and mark on their specified products.

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (BIS) PRODUCT CERTIFICATION SCHEME

As per the rules and regulations of the BIS Act, 2016 the BIS is authorized to take conformity actions for product assessment, certification of the product, and assessment of production processes and other services. In the product certification scheme of BIS, it grants licenses to the manufacturers' products to use the standard compliance mark or grants a certificate of conformity of compliance with the set standards. The BIS mark present on the products is known as a  Standard Mark. The standard mark is an assurance of conformity to the standards and specifications set by the BIS Act,2016.

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (BIS) COMPULSORY REGISTRATION SCHEME

The product certification scheme provides third-party conformity and assurance about the quality, standard, reliability, and safety of the product to the consumers. The manufacturers can self-certify their products after establishing conformity to the standards and the BIS also keeps close surveillance on the quality control of the products through surprise inspections. The product certification scheme is however voluntary in nature but considering the interest, safety, infrastructural requirements and mass consumption of the public the Central Government made it mandatory.

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS (BIS) REGISTRATION CONSULTANCY

One of the many functions of BIS is to provide BIS consultancy services to the companies. It provides companies with strategies and policies for higher compliance with the standards. There are various agents of BIS providing consultancy and registration services all across India. They research the market and company history thoroughly to provide them with the best plans for efficient compliance with the standards.

BIS CERTIFICATION SERVICES FOR STEEL PLATES

Recently the government of India has notified certain steel and steel products to be added under mandatory BIS certification list these products include mild steel wire rods, cold reduced low carbon, and hot-rolled carbon sheets and strips, and many more. This enables the government to bring a wide variety of products and services under the ambit of standardization.

The main aim of a BIS license is to provide a third-party guarantee regarding the quality, safety, reliability of the products and services to the customers. According to the rules and regulations of BIS, any manufacturer or seller, of the steel and steel products listed under the order of quality control, makes any sale or distribution transaction, without complying with the requirements and norms of standardization provided under such order and do not bear a BIS mark, shall be prohibited.
All domestic and industrial steel and steel products are listed under the quality control order. The seller/ manufacturer has to obtain a license by making an application to the appropriate authority of BIS and maintain and use the BIS mark thereafter. The BIS certification has become mandatory for all the products imported in India.

This will not only protect the interest of the manufacturers against low-quality products but also ensure consumer interest by eliminating deceptive practices and maintaining standards. The introduction of these steel and steel products under BIS certification might cause impacts on steel industry such as rise in prices of steel, curtailing steel imports, slowing down steel production, etc.

However, this shall be very beneficial at the consumer-end by providing them quality assurance through the elimination of sub-standard products from the market.

BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE) CERTIFICATION SERVICES IN INDIA

While buying electrical appliances for our homes and offices or any other place such as microwaves, refrigerators, pumps, generators, air-conditioners, etc we always check for the star-rating label on it. We all know the fact that the higher the star rating, the better the appliance works. It is a surprising fact that hardly anyone knows what those stars mean or who evaluates and puts them there, we are going to find out the same in this article.

BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE)
India is a fast-growing developing country. With its rapid economic growth, the energy consumption rate is also increasing rapidly. Under certain sectors, consumption has become so high that it has become a matter of concern for the government. The government realized the low-cost and efficient method to meet the demand for the increasing energy consumption was to introduce a sustainable and efficient use of the energy system. Therefore, the need for an efficient and sustainable energy consumption system arises.

In the year 2002, the Government of India set up Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the enactment of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, under the supervision of Ministry of Power.

Under this Act, the delivery mechanisms of the energy efficiency services are institutionalized and provide for more coordination among the various entities of the country such as government, consumers, manufacturers, etc. The main goal of this setup is to develop policies and strategies for reduced and efficient energy consumption in the economy, focusing on self-regulation and market policies, and working within the framework of the said Act.

Promoting energy-efficient alternatives and policies for reduced and efficient energy consumption is the primary objective of BEE.

ROLE OF BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE)

The BEE has numerous regulatory and promotional functions. The main function of the BEE is to provide the end consumers with all the important information so that they can make an informed and sustainable choice. It makes the consumers aware of the energy conservation methods and how it helps in cost savings.

To achieve this, they set up the standard and labelling program. Under this, they specify the standard level of energy efficiency to be maintained by the specified product and label the same on the products showing the actual energy and the cost savings.

The government made it mandatory for certain products and companies to be BEE-certified. The companies need to put a “BEE-certified” label on their certain specified products. The higher the star rating for the product, the more market share the product will be able to capture. There are so many agency who provides BEE certification services in India that can help the manufacturer to get the Appliances Star – Rating from the BEE

BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE) RATING CERTIFICATE

The BEE rating certificate is issued by the bureau when the said products of the company have undergone the testing procedure and comply with all the guidelines and standards that are set by the bureau. The rating is done on the scale of 1 to 8, with 8 being the lowest and 1 being the highest rating achievable. The more the compliance, the higher would be the rating. A company needs to get this rating renewed annually since the validity of a BEE certificate lasts only for a year.

BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE) CERTIFICATE CONSULTANCY

One of the many functions of BEE is to provide BEE consultancy services to the companies. It provides companies with strategies and policies to adapt to be more energy-efficient and sustainable. It helps the companies to achieve a higher BEE rating and enhance their business with maximum compliance and cost savings. They get them energy audited. They research the market and company history thoroughly to provide them with the best plans for efficient and sustainable energy consumption methods.

BUREAU OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY (BEE) SERVICES

There are various services provided by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) certification, some of them are:-
·        Advising on the implementation of BEE regulations and compliance.
·        Development of policies to ensure optimal compliance.
·        To get a compliance rating and make sure to yield the benefits of the same from the suppliers.
·        Analysis of bid-rating.
·        Protection of companies who implemented BEE and comply with the same from investigation fronts.
·        Provide financial assistance for the promotion of energy efficiency programs.
